To Reflect and Appreciate

As the year, and the holiday celebrations, wind down, leaders are offered a unique opportunity to pause and reflect on your leadership, and on the people who help make your business thrive.

Your team members have navigated challenges, adapted to changes, and contributed their talents throughout the year.  They’ve brought more to this effort than just their skills – they’ve contributed their creativity, resilience, and dedication.  The holiday season offers a relevant moment to acknowledge this investment with genuine, personal appreciation.

By validating individual and team contributions authentically, you transform workplace interactions from transactional to meaningful, creating an environment where employees feel genuinely valued, not just as workers, but as essential contributors to the success of your business.

But this season also offers something more intimate: time to reflect on your own leadership journey.  Great leadership isn’t about perfection – it’s about continuous growth and authentic connection.

Ask yourself the hard questions:

Have you created an environment where people feel valued and heard?

Did you lead with empathy as well as urgency during difficult moments?

Where did you fall short, and what can you do differently to be a more influential leader?

As you celebrate this season, consider it both a time to honor your people and an invitation to assess your impact as a leader.  The insights you gain now can shape a more engaged, productive, and inspiring leadership approach for the year ahead.

After all, the greatest gift any leader can give is creating a workplace where people feel genuinely appreciated, not just in December, but every day of the year.

And, in the spirit of the season, my thanks to all of you who have worked with me, found value in my posts, and often shared your insightful feedback with me in return.

May each of you, and your loved ones, enjoy a blessed holiday season filled with joy, generosity, gratitude, and peace.
